My Priesthood Contract
“If you live up to your privilege, the angels cannot be restrained from being your associates.” ~Joseph Smith
Article I. Let it be known: whoever signs this contract shall be bound by the articles and covenants contained therein, held accountable by heaven and the angels who keep the book of life.
D&C 4:2 Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.
Alma 5:58 For the names of the righteous shall be written in the book of life, and unto them will I grant an inheritance at my right hand. And now, my brethren, what have ye to say against this? I say unto you, if ye speak against it, it matters not, for the word of God must be fulfilled.
Revelations 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Exodus 32:33 And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
Article II. I covenant with God to seek out, learn to implement and abide by all the given laws of heaven—thereby my Creator may acknowledge me as His son and join His power and authority to my priesthood.
D&C 130:20-21 There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated— And when obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.
Article III. I will renew my covenants daily, pray always, and strive to live by every word which proceedeth forth from the mouth of God—thereby when darkness befalls my people and the minions of hell attack, the veil of heaven may be rent and seraphs assemble to protect those whom I lead and serve.
D&C 84:44 For you shall live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God.
D&C 123:17 Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.
Article IIII. I will cease to be idle; I will maintain my body with wisdom and deny my flesh of that which grieveth the Spirit of God—thereby my body may be invigorated and aid my spirit in performing my mortal ministry.
D&C 88:124 Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean; cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.
Article V. I will invite the Holy Ghost to sanctify me through frequent fasting and prayer and diligent search of the scriptures—thereby, I may know the covenants of the Lord and obtain a sure understanding of the promises of God, enabling me to exercise faith in His deliverance and magnify my priesthood stewardship.
Alma 17:2-3 they had waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth; for they were men of a sound understanding and they had searched the scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God. But this is not all; they had given themselves to much prayer, and fasting; therefore they had the spirit of prophecy, and the spirit of revelation, and when they taught, they taught with power and authority of God.
Article VI. I will seek to actually live by the word of wisdom as contained in D&C 89—thereby when a desolating scourge shall be poured out the destroying angel will pass by, even as the children of Israel and not slay me and my house.
D&C 89: 18-21 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones; And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures; And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint. And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.
Article VII. Through all my failings and triumphs I will retain in remembrance the goodness of God, His justice and His mercy, I will remember that Christ came to strengthen me and my faith through failure and through continual returning to Him and his power to save.
D&C 45:8 I came to my own, and mine own received me not; but unto as many as received me gave I power to do many miracles, and to become the sons of God; and even unto them that believed on my name gave I power to obtain eternal life.
I _________________________________________________________ covenant with God as outlined by the Articles in this Priesthood Contract to live by faith, to secure power in the priesthood, and to continually invite others to come unto Christ, so that one day God will claim me as His own and call me His son.
