Have you ever heard The Love Song Of My Beloved? The song is Isaiah chapter 5.
It is a lament from the Lord over his covenant people, both prophesying judgements that fell on the 10 tribes at the time of their scattering, and of judgements that are already falling upon God's covenant people today. In Isaiah 5:2 the Lord reminds us of the things he has done for his people. Then the Lord cries out: "What could I have done more for my vineyard than what I have done for it?" (Isaiah 5:4)
Isaiah 5:2 contains some keys to understanding this chapter and what the Lord has done for his covenant people:
1. The fencing and removal of stones is inheritance or promised land.
2. The choicest vine are those who inherit the covenants of the Lord.
3. The watchtower is the church.
4. The winepress is the atonement King Jesus preformed for the world.
5. The wild grapes are his apostate people.
I invite everyone to join me in diligently searching the words of Isaiah so that we can know what we need to repent of, how we can access the gift of the atonement and bring the power of Jesus into our lives, and how we can accomplish our divine assignment to preserve the souls of mankind by being salt and light.
