Precepts of Men

Precept of Men: Ordinances in and of themselves have saving power. 

• Truth: Salvation only comes through Christ. We bind ourselves to Christ by picking up our cross, crucifying our sins, and following Jesus in action.

Precept of Men: Just because a prophet or high ranking church official says something is from God doesn't actually mean its from God. 

• Truth: All testimonies must be personally verified through petitioning the Lord in prayer.

Precept of Men: God gives power to those that make covenants with him. 

• Truth: God gives power to those who are obedient to the covenants they have made with Him and that God has made with them.

Precept of Men: You need to be baptized in a specific church in order to return to heaven.

• Truth: God has asked us to physically baptized in the name of Jesus Christ by someone filled with the holy spirit of God as a sign that we have entered into a covenant relationship with Jesus Christ. We are saved through the grace of Jesus by continually striving to be exactly obedient to Jesus Christ and the covenants we've made. 

Precept of Men: The greater the position and ecclesiastical authority the greater the righteousness of that person.

• Truth: Position and authority is a poor indicator of righteousness. 

Precept of Men: I'm going to follow the prophet and make it back to heaven.

• Truth: Each individual must work out their own salvation with fear and trembling before God.

Precept of Men: Because Abraham practiced polygamy it's a divine principle.

• Truth: Marriage is between one man and one woman.

Precept of Men: My bishop watches this movie for entertainment and participates in such and such an activity so I guess its okay. 

• Truth: Just because your ecclesiastical leader watches certain movies and participates in certain activities doesn't mean that God approves of the movie or activity.

Precept of Men: Because the prophet endorses vaccines means vaccines are good and that I should take them.

• Truth: God wants us to be discerning about anything that we put into our bodies be that food, water, medicine, and especially vaccines.

• Truth: God wants us to be discerning and aware of the evil designs of men in the last days. Many plans are in place by satan to destroy the health, freedom and happiness of people around the world.  Beaware and be free.

Precept of Men: To sustain the leadership of the church means to agree with everything they teach and adopt their beliefs as my own.

• Truth: To sustain means to support or hold up. Just as a table leg participates in holding up the tabletop, we are commanded to support our leaders in their church callings. It doesn't mean to agree with all their actions. God wants us to sustain our church leaders because just as a supported tabletop is capable of holding things or preforming work on, the church structure is beneficial to society and transforming the world throught the message of Christ. 

Precept of Men: God doesn't speak to men and women today, he did in the past but not today.

• Truth: God speaks to those who seek his direction
